ZANG:  JEANNINE FLORES

Zangeres van Fadango Jeannine Geerts

Singer Jeannine Flores studied at the Conservatory in Tilburg, after which she studied solo singing with Margreet Honig at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and followed the drama (opera) training here.

As Cherubino in "Le Nozze di Figaro" she collaborated with Hartmut Haenchen and sang La Ciesca in "Gianni Schicchi", conducted by Ed Spanjaard.

Jeannine sang for five years as a soloist with the Hoofdstad Operetta, where she performed the role of Christel von der Post in "Der Vogelhändler". Gabrielle in "La Vie Parisienne" and Valencienne in "Die Lustige Witwe". She worked in Germany at the Operetten-Tounee Theater Hannover, where she sang the role of Stasi in "Die Csardasfürstin". The role of Adelaïde in "Der Volgelhändler," she interpreted in the opera in Krakow.

Jeannine also has her mark in the musical field

deserved. She could be seen as Baroness Schraeder

in "The Sound of Music" with the Royal Ballet of Flanders and later also with Stage Entertainment. For this role she was nominated as best supporting actress for the Flemish-Musical awards. Jeannine also played the part of Jellylorum, Gumbie and Griddlebone in the Joop van den Ende / Music Hall production, "Cats" in Antwerp.

At Music Hall she also appeared in "Les Miserables" and sang the part of Nurse / Nurse in "Romeo & Juliet.

At Studio 100 she played the role of Queen in the musical "Snow White" and was soloist in the dinner show "Novomundo" by Wentink Events. As Mme Renaud, Jeannine appeared in the Joop van den Ende production "La Cage aux Folles". With this performance she opened the New DelaMar theater in the presence of Princess Beatrix. And played Freek Bartels' mother, Alison Barrett, in the Stage Entertainment musical "Love Story".

As an actress she is regularly cast for television series such as "Onderweg naar morgen" and "Fataal" and she regularly cooperates in recording / singing cartoons such as "The Golden Compass."

In addition to performances, Jeannine has been giving singing lessons and vocal liberation workshops for years and tries to pass on the love for the profession.

Bandoneon: Gerard van Duinen

Gerard van Duinen is a versatile musician. As a bandoneonist he plays a lot of Argentine tango, and regularly makes crossovers to jazz, pop and even Portuguese fado. He is a much sought-after arranger specializing in tango. As a teacher he is popular as a coach and supervisor of (amateur) companies. In 2010 he received the Tango Music Award for his tango La Maca. Gerard regularly publishes articles about tango and bandoneon playing.

Gerard van Duinen (The Hague, 1965) studied mathematics and Japanese for some time and was an account manager at ING Bank before deciding to play bandoneon. He studied for several years with Leo Vervelde and Carel Kraayenhof at the conservatory in Rotterdam. He was a student of the virtuoso Argentinian Juan-José Mosalini at the Conservatoire Edgar Varèse in Paris for three years.

He performs with a variety of groups: the duo Walton Van Duinen and the Gerard van Duinen Tango Trio (Argentine tango), Fadango (fado and tango, with singer Jeannine Geerts), the Karen B (singer-songwriter), Mister Rain & the Sunny Summers (world impro jazz) and Fresh Trash (music theater). As a soloist he is regularly invited by (harmony) orchestras and brass bands.

Gerard is an experienced teacher, who can convey his enthusiasm for Argentine tango in a unique way. The workshops he organized for, for example, the Concertgebouw and the Tango à la Carte festival, often led to new ensembles. As a coach for amateur companies he is unparalleled and in great demand. He also gives private lessons in bandoneon and arrangement.

Gerard studied composition with Richard Ayres and Gustavo Beytelmann. He focused on arranging Argentine tango with Alejandro Schwarz and Julián Peralta. The large number of arrangements he has written for various line-ups in recent years makes him probably the most experienced tango arranger in the Netherlands.

Gerard regularly publishes in La Cadena, tango monthly magazine for the Netherlands and Belgium. He has written a series of articles on contemporary tango. His column Wonderful !, in which he tries to describe in words why a certain tango is so beautiful, appeared in 2009 and has been widely read.

Guitar: Mirek Walton

Mirek Walton is considered a promising talent in the tango world. The young guitarist, pianist and composer graduated cum laude from the Rotterdam Conservatory in 2009. He plays in various tango groups, but also focuses on other styles such as jazz, world music and music theater. In his idiosyncratic compositions he combines tango with improvisation and new techniques to make the old rhythms sound swinging and refreshing. Mirek was awarded the Choclo composition prize in 2010 and won the Doble Ocho Competition 2010 with Nuevo Nocturna. Mirek Walton also performs regularly with De Andersons and Walton / van Duinen.

Suze Stiphout studeerde klassiek contrabas aan het conservatorium in Den Haag.Na haar klassieke studie heeft ze zich verdiept in jazz, latin, tango en Arabische muziek.

Ze is sinds kort bij Fadango en daarnaast speelt ze in verschillende formaties waaronder tango quintet Arrastre, Trio Tangata en de theater voorstelling “Vlieg”, Bustan and the Sentimentalists.
